10 Super Nice Fresh Free Fonts

Hello crickets.

March 8th, 2012

I was updating my site and I realized i havent posted anything here in ages. So, here goes an update. Last year around this time I was living in New York with my boyfriend and working in midtown. Today i’m living in Los Angeles with my now fiance, working from home and spending every minute finalizing wedding details.

Crazy right? We drove here and it was amazing. I’m so glad we rushed our move so that we would have the time to do that. We documented the trip cause that’s what you do when you drive for days on end and have time to play on your phone.

We’ve been loving California. And that’s not even sarcasm, really. Who knew a born and bred NYer could adapt so quickly to the west coast! Other than still getting a little nervous when getting on the highway and missing real pizza, i’m all settled here.

So that’s my quick and dirty catch up of the last year. I’m going to try and keep the inspiration flowing on this blog with the great articles I find and possibly some cute pictures of puppies.

judy out.

AIDS WALK 2011

April 6th, 2011

I have registered for AIDS Walk New York and am very excited about the event! I want to do as much as I can to make a difference in the lives of people living with HIV and AIDS. Help me raise my modest fundraising goal!

Thank you for supporting AIDS Walk New York and for helping to put an end to this epidemic.
Aids Walk NY

AIDS Walk New York, the world’s largest AIDS fundraising event, benefits GMHC and over 30 other tri-state area AIDS service organizations. GMHC is the nation’s oldest and most comprehensive AIDS service organization, serving approximately 15,000 people living with HIV and AIDS and their families each year, and countless more through its prevention and advocacy work locally and nationally.

Even though there has been success with drug treatments that are prolonging some people’s lives, they don’t work for everyone. These treatments can also take their toll physically, and for many cause awful side-effects. I am also concerned that so many young people in New York City are getting infected. There is a dire need for comprehensive prevention programs and services that target youth in their language. And above all, there is still no cure in sight.

Web Design Checkmate: Using Chess For Success in Web Design

September 3rd, 2010

Further proof that i’m a geek. I play chess all the time. I LOVE it. We have a portable chess set in the car to take to restaurants and we have an antique chess table set up in our living room.
Also, I’m a web designer. Love of design, color and code…
Here is a wonderful article on both those subjects from Smashing Magazine by Alexander Dawson.

Proper Standards-Compliant Color Use in Web Design

August 24th, 2010

Interesting read over at Design Instruct By D. S. Del Rosario:

As designers who’d like to turn our creations into works of art, we want to design towards our heart’s content — letting our eyes be the final judge of our masterpieces. But as we all know, creating a web page is different from creating a painting — with a painting, we can freely express ourselves on the canvas. However, with a web page, we need to effectively pass on information, first and foremost.
